Ilbe is notorious for its misogynistic users who emphasize freedom of speech and use that right to make controversial statements and trends. One of these trends includes expressing hatred towards former President Roh Moo Hyun and mocking his suicide.

On September 7, MBC's 'News Today' covered the issue on alleged illegal marketing involving Big Hit Entertainment and its artist BTS. A silhouette image of a man was used to refer to CEO Lee who blackmailed the agency.
The image became problematic as it turned out to be a photo of Roh Moo Hyun made by Ilbe users to mock the former leader.
This is not the first time MBC used the controversial image. Back in 2014, 'Section TV' was under fire for using the same image in delivering news about Cha Seung Won's son. In 2013, an Ilbe image of Noh Moo Hyun was used on 'Good Day', and on 'News Desk' in 2015.
Media outlet Sports Kyunghyang attempted to speak with a rep from MBC about the recent use of the Ilbe image, however, the contact failed due to the ongoing general strike against MBC.
Netizens criticized the broadcast station, commenting, "MBC is definitely part of Ilbe", "They're like the root of Ilbe'', "Of course, stupid MBC", "MBC must really love former President Roh", "Ilbe broadcast = MBC", "Crazy bastards", "What is wrong with them."
