At the press conference for the film on July 19, Song Joong Ki mentioned Song Hye Kyo's past rejection of a 'Mitsubishi' modeling offer.
In April of 2016, it was revealed that Song Hye Kyo rejected an offer for 'Mitsubishi' as the Japanese brand was involved in lawsuits over the alleged use of forced labor during the Japanese colonial era.
Song Joong Ki said, "I found out through the news. The first thing I thought after seeing the news was that I really wanted to applaud her. I think I would've done the same thing if I was given the offer."
He added, "Now, she has become a person who I love and I really think she made a good decision."
'Battleship Island' will open in theaters on July 26.
