On April 28, Seoul Metropolitan Police revealed Yang Hyun Suk had been reported for altering his building in the Hapjeong neighborhood of the Mapo District without permission from the city, which violates construction laws. The YGE head was suspected of making alterations to floors in the office building to use as housing.
In September of last year, the office building in question was cited for including residential amenities, such as a bed and sink. Though two representatives were ordered to make the correct measures in September and November of 2016, they failed to act, resulting in a police summons. The same reps were also fined 3 million Won ($2,644.42 USD) in 2015 for making illegal changes to the YG Entertainment office building.
Yang Hyun Suk has now come out with an official statement, stating, "There was a problem in the delivery of the corrective orders, and I was only aware after it was reported to the police. I will make the corrections as soon as possible. The other building in the Hongdae area have already completed the issued corrections. I apologize."
