1.
IU's 'Lost Child'
IU has found her signature sound with her light, quirky vocals, but she debuted with this gem that went under the radar for some reason. At such a young age, she was a powerful singer, and this was an emotional track that pulls at the heartstrings. She should have gotten attention for this way before her 3 "octave" fame.
2.
B1A4's 'O.K'
This was a super catchy, bright, and cheery track that should have gotten everyone up on their feet automatically to dance along. It had great hooks and a great energy that would make everybody feel instantly happier.
3.
EXID's 'Whoz That Girl'
Before Hani's fan cam helped the group finally receive its long overdue fame, the group had released one amazing song after another, starting off with 'Whoz That Girl,' which was so catchy and easy on the ears. How could you not repeat that hook?
4.
MAMAMOO's 'Mr. Amgiguous'
MAMAMOO's talent shone from the get-go with their official debut track, 'Mr. Ambiguous.' This was a very fun song that was lighthearted but also showcased the members' immense talent. Since then, they've reached success, but this song could have definitely done better.
5.
TEEN TOP's 'Clap'
This was an amazing song! Super dramatic with the swelling violins, the catchy clapping sounds, and an ah-maz-ing choreography that was so clean-cut and knife-life. They got famous for their quick foot-moving dances later on, but even in this debut, you can see how well they moved both individually and as a group.
6.
Ladies' Code's 'Bad Girl'
Ladies' Code's debut did not do so badly - they were deemed promising rookies. Still, this song should have done way better. It was the catchiest thing I've ever heard and one of my favorite K-Pop songs. Their vocals are strong, the chorus catchy, and even the dance looks amazing.
7.
RaNia's 'Dr. Feel Good'
A lot of people were distracted by the fact that this was scandalously sexy for the time period. While everyone was arguing over that, I was enjoying the song. The lyrics were definitely quite raunchy, but the melody and sound were just sexy enough and really catchy!
8.
SPICA's 'Russian Roulette'
SPICA is unfortunately still an unappreciated group. They should have hit fame with the debut song alone. Many people think of Red Velvet now when they hear "Russian Roulette," but the concept was used way before by SPICA. This is quite the gem, with a subtly melodramatic sound that boasts their vocal prowess.
9.
AOA's 'Elvis'
For some reason, AOA's sexiness and catchy songs became a hit more recently, but they actually debuted with a more toned down but not all that different concept. The debut song had quite a repetitive hook that easily gets stuck in the head matched with fairly sexy, flirty outfits and choreography. So why wasn't this more of a success?
10.
Cosmic Girl's 'Mo Mo Mo'
I frankly did not like this song at first, but when it grew on me, it really grew on me! So catchy, especially the "Mo Mo Mo" part, and I have to say that the choreography was nicely done with formations that take advantage of the large number of members.
11.
INFINITE's 'Come Back to Me'
This is a super catchy song with a repetitive hook that the mind cannot get rid of so easily. This song should have had everybody humming it for days when it first came out - plus, that choreography was amazing! The boys had their knife-like movements down from the get-go.
12.
Ailee's 'Heaven'
This was a breathtakingly beautiful song that definitely put Ailee on the map, but could have been even more of a sensation. It has a very poetic and artistic vibe to it. You could tell the raw emotion she puts into her song expertly while maintaining the flair of a performer on stage.
13.
Wonder Girls' 'Irony'
This was a pretty catchy jam! It has a hip hop vibe to it with the repetitive hook of "Irony, makes no sense..." They hit success shortly after, but this has sadly become an overshadowed part of their reputable career.
14.
A Pink's 'I Don't Know'
This is another song that did relatively well, but could have done better, hence "underrated." This was a really refreshing throwback to the 90's girl group sound with a modern twist, and the girls did a great job maintaining that bright, cheery, and girly atmosphere in the MV and in performances. So pretty and sweet sounding!
15.
NU'EST's 'Face'
This song was not only incredibly catchy with a good choreography but also deep in its meaning as it faces the topic of bullies. It should have been really relatable for youths. It was a well-done debut, but not as celebrated as it should have been.
16.
Big Bang's 'La La La'
Big Bang is probably the biggest boy group in K-Pop out there, but their debut barely left an impact of impression. Why, though? The hip hop sound was popular at the time, the hook was super catchy, and the boys were adorable!
17.
G-Friend's 'Glass Bead'
A lot of people were stuck on the fact that this sounded very similar to Girls' Generation's "Into the New World" without appreciating the nostalgia it brought about while also establishing its own sound. The song had a nice message of not being as fragile as the members might look, the dance was very clean-cut, and the song was really easy on the ears. It's one of those songs that forces you to sing along, especially for Yuju's ad-libs at the end.
18.
Dal Shabet's 'Supa Dupa Diva'
"Supa-pa-du-pa-pa supa dupa lala di-pa-pa di-pa-pa supa boom!" Come on. That's the catchiest hook every in K-Pop. The dance that goes with it matches rhythmically. It should have been a hit! Sooooo frigging catchy. Also really lighthearted and fun!
19.
SECRET's 'I Want You Back'
This was a really nice, laid-back song that is incredibly easy on the ears like honey. The girls' sweet vocals and the repetitive hook should have made this song much more popular than it was! Sadly, the girls' debut went largely unnoticed.
20.
Topp Dogg's 'Say It'
This is a tough, edgy song that makes you feel like a badass. There are many members but they all dance well together, and the choreo looks hard and cool! Why did this not do better?
