[Drama Review] 'Uncontrollably Fond' - Episode 7

UNCONTROLLABLY FOND -- EPISODE 7

He woke up, kissed the person next to him, and felt glad to be alive. The airline suggested he fly with another company next time.

Joon Young admits to an unconscious Noh Eul that the reason he doesn't want her around is because he's afraid of his obsessive feelings. He takes a taxi back to Seoul and collapses in pain. Noh Eul follows him there. Jik appeals to Ji Tae to try and get Noh Eul away from Joon Young. Meanwhile, the elder Choi's wife has learned of Joon Young's cancer. Ji Tae meets with his wife, Jung Eun, and she isn't happy about his relationship with Noh Eul. The elder Choi meets with a hooker, and his wife gets wind of it. That night, Ji Tae tries to get Joon Young to let Noh Eul go. Joon Young doesn't want her to leave. However, Noh Eul reads a news story concocted by Joon Young's agency saying that the Hallyu star is dating another actress. Hurt by the story, Noh Eul tries to take off, but Joon Young grabs her and pulls her into a kiss...

Joon Young obsession is really out of the blue. For the most part, the time he spends with No Eul isn't all that fun and shouldn't have developed into much of anything. It is possible that they're setting us up; that they're going to come down on the side of rationality. Nah, who am I kidding?

"Hello, police? Please send an officer over to 324 Cheonmyeong Road right away! Oh, I called the deli by mistake? In that case, please send over a pastrami sandwich!"

Joon Young and Noh Eul have this hot and cold running romance that is grating to be honest. It's getting aggravating. It just seems as if it's this bizarre game of taking turns. At the end of every episode, one of them breaks things off, and it's getting old. I realize it is supposed to heighten tension, but it's not doing that at all. Instead, it's just like some sort of scorecard -- she broke away on the last episode, now he has to. I hope this episode breaks the pattern.

Choi's wife is really something else. She casually dismisses Joon Young's cancer as unfortunate and has her hubby followed -- with good reason, it seems, especially in light of his recent actions. It still seems like she is just sort of a network of information. I'd like to see more character development rather than just some vague actions. I want to find out why she's with her husband and what makes her tick.

This episode was not that good. While they're getting less confusing, this installment was just sort of meh. The pacing was a bit off, the time seemed to pass more slowly. At least we might have a romance we can enjoy.
