The North was reported to have been assembling long-range missiles, and according to various media outlets, it launched a rocket on Sunday. 

South Korea and its UN allies, namely the United States and Japan, have suggested implementing defensive action against the North and its threats. 

The BBC reported on Monday that the U.S. will be aiding South Korea in deploying an advanced missile defense system as soon as possible. 

The BBC also quoted Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook, who said, "Without getting into a timeline, we'd like to see this move as quickly as possible. We are beginning the consultations now and in the current days with the South Koreans, and we expect that this will move in an expeditious fashion."

Further, President Park Geun Hye phoned both President Obama and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to discuss the North's continuous provocations and what measures they should administer in order to discourage any further intimidation from North Korea. 

Park Geun Hye called Obama Tuesday and told him, "We need to take specific measures for the North to realize that neither their attempts at Nuclear weapons development nor their economic development will ever succeed." 

Obama was said to have assured Park, "North Korea's long-range missiles is not only a threat to the United States but also a direct threat to its allies. South Korea and the United States' alliance against North Korea will not falter." 

Japan's prime minister Shinzo Abe reportedly told Park, "The Japanese government is preparing individual means of sanction."
