On October 27, former 'Superstar K' participant and singer Kim Hyun Ji (31) was discovered deceased in a rental car with two others, Mr. Go (33) and Mr. Lee (33), making it appear as if they had committed suicide together.
The owner of the rental company had been unable to reach Mr. Go, who rented the car, after the rental period passed, so the owner attempted to call him, but the phone was turned off. The owner proceeded to report this to the police, the car was discovered using the GPS, and the three of them were discovered lifeless.

The police, viewing this as joint suicide, have decided to close the case internally. A rep stated on October 28, "After investigating into the unnatural deaths of the three people, including Kim Hyun Ji, we were unable to discover evidence that could indicate homicide or circumstances that would lead us to suspect homicide. We view this as a typical case of suicide and plan to conclude internal investigation."
The police had requested an autopsy in order to figure out the cause of death, which was revealed to be carbon monoxide poisoning. The police took into consideration that the car did not appear to have been broken into, their whereabouts, statements from the bereaved families, a burnt charcoal in the car, and more before making their decision. However, any suicide notes have not been discovered.
The police rep stated, "The results of looking into and breaking down their correspondence, we discovered records of them in contact with one another, but we were unable to confirm whether they were slightly acquainted with one another. Another unconfirmed aspect is whether it is true that they'd met through a suicide site. After the autopsy, the bodies were passed onto their families."
May they rest in peace.
