This past October 12, the Seoul National University Bamboo Grove Facebook page shared a touching story of one student's chance encounter with a kindhearted bus driver.
The student in question, merely identified as 'A', was drinking all alone outside of a convenience store when a man came up to him and asked, "Why are you drinking alone here at this hour, going through a difficult time?"
The student was wary at first because the hour was late and because the man was a total stranger, but at the words, "Going through a difficult time," 'A' lowered his guard and told the man that university life was too tough and lonely.
The man introduced himself as the bus driver for the number two village bus which runs to and from Seoul University.
He opened up to 'A', revealing that after he lost his daughter to a car accident, he lived his days by drowning himself in alcohol as well. One day, as he was drunkenly wandering the streets as usual, he passed by a female student in a Seoul University jacket, who looked very much like his daughter.

That's when the man was jolted back to his senses. He thought, "If my smart daughter was alive, then she would have been just like that student," and decided to become a bus driver for the number 2 bus which made its rounds picking up passengers in the Seoul University area.
The man continued his tale, saying, "As I was checking to see if that female student who looks like my daughter would get on, I realized all the students would have been her friends and comrades and looked at all their faces. They're all so precious."
Regrettably, the man never saw the female student who looked like his daughter again. He said, "She's probably graduated by now and living a nice life. But here I am, still a bus driver because every year 3000 sons and daughters enroll," giving a hearty chuckle.
The man told 'A', who was weary from loneliness, "Just think about how some stranger is cheering you on. Don't you feel all warm inside knowing that someone is thinking of you?"
