Many people including the viewers, the producers, and the rest of the contestants, were anticipating the diss battle between Mino and Black Nut which was sure to cause another brouhaha. Black Nut has continually targeted Mino in his verses, and on the seventh episode of SMTM 4, the two rappers finally got the opportunity to stomp on each other with some sick rhymes and punchlines.
Basick declared that the battle of wordplay between Mino and Black Nut is "the main event," and Tablo seemed to agree as he said, "I think everyone has been waiting to see Mino go up against Black Nut."
Black Nut spat his verses first, rapping lines that translate roughly along the lines of, "Truthfully I'm scared of your fans. So once this is over act friendly with me, haha. You want fame? 'Show Me the Money' is not the place. You got something to say about me? But your footsteps start running away when you see me. That's right run away you can't stop this 'B.'...Yang Hyun Suk told you not to say this but you begged Lee Soo Man to switch places with Minho (of SHINee). But even if you won you'd just be a second Bobby. You said you came on here with the YG label off? I think I'd believe it more if you said I took off your bachelor label (using wordplay to imply that it's more believable that he 'took' Mino's innocence i.e. Black Nut doesn't believe what Mino said about being on SMTM 4 without the backing of YG)."
At the end of his verse Black Nut he added, "That's right I'm a dog, are you a you dog, too?" and even got down on hands and knees to rub his face against the leg of Mino.
Geeogooin, who was watching the diss battle in the waiting room, said, "It's good that this may be fun [for people to watch] but I wasn't sure whether it was a fight or a diss," while Innovator said, "I was a tad disappointed in Black Nut." Jay Park also thought Black Nut went over the line as he disclosed in an interview, "I believed this was a mission for Black Nut but for me, [this battle] was below my expectations."
Mino spat back some dope lines as well, but he targeted the producers San E and Verbal Jint more than he did Black Nut. He rapped, "Brand New's crippled choice (as in wrongful choice, referring to the issue of Hanhae and Black Nut in last episode). Thanks to your repeated mistakes your hunger will soon be full of black beans (referring to Black Nut). Enough is enough without any conscience. You drop [Black Nut] then say you didn't like something 'that loser San E would do (an allusion to the diss verse towards San E in B-Free's track "My Team").' Even you know how ridiculous your sunglasses excuse sounds. What about Kim Gun Mo, Jinusean, and Stevie Wonder (all artists that often wear sunglasses during performances)? I'm proud of YG like I'm eating a meal. Now the whole nation knows about your tragedy. After filming Mnet's highest viewership rating Brand New's fruitless Hanhae (Korean word for 'year') is gone," and at Black Nut he spat, "Hey, I'll give you some money, go tell San E to buy you some bread. You'll soon rue the day you came out on 'SMTM 4.' Just like you said, the winner will be Mino."
