You know that feeling when you're checking out your favorite artist's live stage and that one dance move you remember in the music video just doesn't make it in? You may even realize their obvious choreography change and you're wondering, why? The answer most likely lies in the fact that it's been deemed inappropriate and therefore banned. By live stage, I'm specifically talking about the ones of South Korean broadcast stations. We've all gotten upset over these banned dances, majority of them being for female artists.
Were these dances that were said to be too sexy, actually too sexy? View some of the banned female k-pop dances below and take the poll to let us know if you agree or disagree with the bans.
1. SISTAR "So Cool"
The hip and hand move may have been known as the "fart waving" move, but it was also banned from all broadcast stations. I have yet to see them perform their original dance live. Anyone know if there's a rare footage out there?
2. Rainbow "A"
Few years back when Rainbow came out with "A," their shirt lifting move where they expose their abdomen gained popularity for their group. However, soon after they had to alter the move.
3. 4minute "Mirror Mirror"
The choreograph where 4minute's members split their legs on the floor sparked controversy in 2011. After being banned altogether from music program 'Music Bank,' even the CEO of the group's agency released a statement saying the portion of the dance will change.
4. EXID "Up & Down"
After their ban from airing, EXID's hand positioning on their lower body was changed as well as their pelvic thrusts, which were changed to the swinging of the hips.
5. Girl's Day "Something"
"Something" was one of Girl's Day's greatest hits, but their choreography in the song was faced with much controversy due to their "sensual" dance moves on the floor. The dance was changed after their fourth live performance.
6. Dal Shabet "BBB"
Dal Shabet's hand position on their chests as they make circular motions, was forced to be positioned to a more "appropriate" area.
7. AOA "Miniskirt"
AOA's original choreography used their outfits props as they would unzip the sides of their skirts. After being labeled as too provocative, they later had pre-unzipped miniskirts to be only a part of their look.
8. Sunmi "Full Moon"
The dance that takes place while sitting was greatly modified even prior to Sunmi's live promotions. Her original leg moves in her dance was only showcased in her music video.
9. Stellar "Marionette"
Stellar's dance was in the spotlight for its hand grabs to the lower body. It was forced to change in all broadcast stations. The public seemed to often ask, "Is the dance move too much?"
10. Ga In "Paradise Lost"
Ga In's dance in "Paradise Lost" is supposed to depict that of a snake in her music video. Majority of her choreograph was changed for music programs.
11. 4L "Move"
As soon as the music video was released, there was controversy over the group's revealing outfits and sexual dance moves. 4L practically had to change their whole choreography.
12. RaNia "Dr. Feel Good"
Remember RaNia when they debuted with their song filled with repeated leg moves and pelvic thrusts? As a rookie group, they were already surrounded with controversy due to their "wide leg spread dance," similar to that of 4minute's.
