Following the decision of the university's disciplinary committee, Park was officially removed from his post as a professor. Expulsion is the highest level of disciplinary that a faculty member can earn, as an expelled professor cannot look for work at another university for at least five years and risk losing their retirement and pension funds.
Park's sexual harassment suspicions were brought to light last February among the school community. There were testimonies that Park kissed female students on their cheeks at social events, asked them whether they were seeing anyone, and even requested private meetings with them via text messages. Further, Park made inappropriate sexual remarks towards female students such as, "How far have you gone with your boyfriend," "If you call me professor I'll give you an F, but if you call me oppa I'll give you an A," and "If you won't kiss me I won't send you home."
Subsequent these testimonies, Park's lectures were halted and an investigation was initiated. Last April, the school's human rights department submitted a report to the administration office requesting an appropriate penalty.
The university is deeply ashamed of the professor's disgraceful acts and stated that they will endeavor to prevent a similar case from recurring in the future. A rep from Seoul National University said, "We have decided to expel Professor Park for sexually harassing and abusing students, as he has gravely violated his duties of good faith and failed to uphold a dignified image."
