Back on December 5, Cho interrupted Flight 86 from going on its usual route from New York to Korea. When an attendant served Cho nuts without her asking for them, Cho called for the head of the service crew (or the purser) and asked him to recite the airline's policy on serving nuts. When the purser, who has 18 years of work experience, could not answer correctly, Cho ordered that the plane turn around so that the purser could be kicked out.
Cho has been heavily criticized by the public for exceeding her authority in making such an order. She has since resigned. As for the purser, he was diagnosed to be in need of mental treatment due to the severe amount of stress and trauma he received following the nut incident, or what some call the "nut rage." Reports say that he will be taking sick leave from work from December 8 until the 27th.
Others speculate that the purser was actually suspended from flying after the incident.
