Singer Moon Hee Jun appeared on SBS variety program 'Magic Eye' on September 30 and discussed how things were different back in the '90s.
He revealed, "During H.O.T times, you couldn't wear earrings or dye your hair. Honestly, I didn't let it bother me at first. However, as time passed, we became the group to represent the teens, so I thought I had to fight these prohibitions. If you had dyed hair, you had to either spray it black or cover it with a bandana. I thought that I had to fight so that my juniors could be on TV with dyed hair. That's why I dyed my hair in 7 different colors, performed on stage, and even caused a broadcasting accident. After I worked hard like that, the regulation on dyed hair was lifted. Right now, G-Dragon can dye his entire natural hair color thanks to my diligence and efforts when I was young."
For further elaboration, Moon Hee Jun said that because of H.O.T, even bandanas became prohibited. He revealed that when he went on stage with a bandana, it came loose, revealing his dyed hair and earring. He also said this was actually a bit intentional, which is why he had only tied the bandana once. After he got off stage, there was chaos. The broadcasting accident resulted in the boys' one year prohibition from that broadcasting station.
He revealed that Lee Soo Man had reacted very coolly. Moon Hee Jun imitated Lee Soo Man by saying, "Yeah. If they can't understand your fashion, you need to fight no matter what," showing his general indifference.
He continued, revealing that they ended up on a variety show under that broadcasting station and it was the first time they got to be on a variety program with dyed hair!
Kim Gu Ra joked about Moon Hee Jun's mop-like hairstyle to which Moon Hee Jun jokingly replied, "It ended up like that because I kept doing severe things [to my hair]. I get stressed because of you."
