A user, Mr. Jung, from Ilbe, the infamously controversial online community, was imprisoned for sexually insulting the victims of the Sewol ferry accident. 

According to Judge Park Sun Young, the member was sentenced to one year in prison for violating laws regarding the promotion of information and communication network use and protection of information.

Prosecutor Park said, "As he caused pain to the victim's families as well as to the nation at a time when the whole country was in shock because of the incident, a severe punishment was inevitable."

He then added, "A couple hundred people read Mr. Jung's post, and a portion left comments that responded positively.  Due to the thoughtless false post created by the user, not only the victims themselves but also the whole society was very severely hurt." 

The user created a false post which stated that "those who were in the Sewol ferry participated in an orgy" as well as other false assumptions. The post was created just one day after the accident had occurred and had gone on for two more days.
