Rumors of Rain having put in a request to be moved to the front lines of the DMZ have been revealed to be false.
After Rain's controversy and his punishment, rumors had started to float around that he had put in a formal request to be transferred to the front lines.
In response to the rumors, a representative from the Ministry of Defense said, "When [Rain] was talking with the Ministry of Defense, he just said, 'If it's like this, I'd rather go to the front lines' to express how he felt, but it is false to look at this as a formal request of assignment change. In the 7 months he has remaining, he will be doing his best to perform his duties as a PR recruit."
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that celebrity recruits were also soldiers and said, "Soldiers can only change their position if the leader judges that it is necessary for the job. No solider can change their position because they simply want to."
