Olympic swimmer Park Tae Hwan has entered the army camp in Nonsan for his four weeks of basic military training.
Park Tae Hwan was granted an exemption from the two years of mandatory Korean military service for winning three gold medals at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar as well as the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
"This is my first time doing such training, so I'm very nervous. I'll work hard during my time in the military and return safely in good health," he commented.
In exchange for being granted exemption from the two years of service, Park Tae Hwan is required to complete 4 weeks of basic training and then continue to train as a swimmer for at least the next 34 months.
