Singer and actor Jang Geun Suk, who is experiencing explosive popularity in Japan and China recently, is receiving some criticism after having expressed his frustrations over the actions of sasaeng fans.
After concluding his 'THE CRI SHOW 2' concert in Shanghai on August 11th, the 'Asian Prince' turned to his Weibo page to express his frustrations over a sasaeng fan who dangerously chased his vehicle while he was in China. Being concerned for his fans' safety, Jang Geun Suk sent a stern warning saying, "I told you guys not to drive over the center line, but you guys are really not listening to me."
He continued, "The public security officers keep telling me to leave due to safety reasons. Let's please take it easy. If this continues, I will not be permitted to perform here. I will not be able to come to China." According to an article reported by Chinese media outlet, one of Jang Geun Suk's reps even received investigation by the Public Security Bureau in China due to the issue of sasaeng fans.
However, this sort of warning did not stop his fans from chasing him, and an angry Jang Gun Suk uploaded another tweet in which he used profanity. Jang Geun Suk deleted his tweet after, probably realizing that it may bring about controversy. However, it was screen captured and written about by the Chinese media with some twisting the singer's intentions and stating that the singer had cursed at his fans and threatened to never come back, bringing up anti-Hallyu sentiments.
But even in the midst of the controversy, Jang Geun Suk's fans continued to show him their support. His Chinese fans responded saying, "I understand he is only looking out for the safety of his fans", "Our lives are more important than chasing after a celebrity. Let's stop," and more.
Meanwhile, Jang Geun Suk held 'THE CRI SHOW2' concert in Shanghai for his fans there. He created an exciting and lively atmosphere, even changing his hairstyle a numerous number of times and performing 20 songs in total.
