Mnet has chosen YG Entertainment's female group 2NE1 as their "Artist of the Year." This is a big honor for 2NE1, whom made their debut earlier this year in May with Fire. Head of Mnet.com ??? (Goom Gi Hoon) stated, "This was the year of the girl groups and 2NE1 was always a hot topic ever since their introduction as the female Big Bang." Mnet's methodology for giving 2NE1 the artist of the year award were based on their own music charts tallied from January 1st to December 10th. Before their official debut, 2NE1 participated in the popular Lollipop campaign along with Big Bang. They had multiple hits with Fire, I Don't Care, and most recently In The Club. Even outside of the group they had hits with Park Bom's You and I, Sandara Park's Kiss, and CL and Minji's Please Don't Go. Congratulations to 2NE1, I look forward to their full come back.
