Yoo Seung Jun is back in the news after signing a 7 year contract with Jackie Chan's entertainment company, JC group International. Yoo Seung Jun is currently training to be an action hero, training in both acting and martial arts. He also plans to release a new album for the asian market in the near future. Yoo Seung Jun, for those of you who aren't familiar with this former KPOP Star, is one of the biggest fall from grace stories in KPOP. He grew up in California claiming to be a former gangster, but eventually gave up that lifestyle when he started attending church. After joining the church choir an interest in singing and dancing was kindled, which led Yoo Seung Jun to send demos to various record labels and was eventually signed. He eventually debuted in 1996 and quickly became a star in Korea and had a few #1 hits. Everything was going good for Yoo Seung Jun but it quickly changed in 2002 when he was supposed to be selected for conscription (mandatory military service). However, despite claims that he would proudly serve in the military through the media, he went to America and became a naturalized US Citizen. Once he became a naturalized US Citizen he no longer had to serve in the military. Because of this, Yoo Seung Jun was and still is considered a traitor / deserter and has since been banned from entering Korea. Many people turned on him and called him a coward. Quite a fall from grace but perhaps he'll have better luck in the Chinese market under Jackie Chan. Maybe one day Korea can forgive him and he could return as well. Here's a video from the mid-90's (Na Na Na) to refresh your memory:
