On February 9, former Wonder Girls member Sunye appeared as a guest on MBC's 'Radio Star' after successfully wrapping up her project girl group promotions for tvN's 'Mom Is An Idol'.
On this day, Sunye discussed her decision to return to the stage again after 10 years away from entertainment. "At first, I declined the offer after I was contact about the program. But for about a month after initially saying 'no', I had a lot of thoughts in my head. I remember on the day of my wedding, someone asked me, 'Are you retiring for good?'. The response I gave was, 'I will sing as long as I can,' and if that is a promise than it ended up being a promise. But before I knew it, 9 years had passed. I realized that the program might be a good chance for me to finally sing again, and so I accepted the offer," Sunye revealed.
When asked why she decided to get married at the age of 24, Sunye replied, "I dreamt of living a life with a big, happy family, where the kids could also grow while being watched over by their grandparents. Many people thought that I was getting married too early, but for me, it was the right time."
Finally, Sunye shared that she planned on returning to her family in Canada soon, now that she was able to greet her fans in Korea for the first time in 10 years. "It has been 2 months since I arrived in Korea. I miss my children so much, and I will be returning to my life as a mother soon," she stated.

Many people may not understand just how much Sunye desired for a family, and how important that dream was for her. She lost her mother and grandfather at a young age, her father was ill, she had no siblings, and her grandmother raised her alone. Then, while she was training and working as an idol with the Wonder Girls, her father died too. So by the time she was about to be married, the only family she had left was her grandmother. And her grandmother passed away shortly after the birth of her first child.
That's why Sunye was willing to leave a life of fame and fortune to pursue the dream of a happy family, and why she cherishes her husband's family in Canada as much as she does.
