Amid opposition from the Seoul Metropolitan Government and concerns over public safety, plans for an adult festival were recently canceled. However, the organizers have announced their intention to hold an even bigger event in June. Seoul Mayor Oh Se Hoon has made it clear that he will not intervene if the event is not held in a public space.

On April 19, a representative from 'PlayJoker,' the organizer of the '2024 KXF The Fashion' adult festival (referred to as KXF), told News1, "We plan to hold the event in Seoul in June and are considering renting a private venue." They also mentioned, "We will double the number of Japanese adult video actresses previously booked."

Earlier, around 10 PM on April 19, Mayor Oh Se Hoon shared his stance through his YouTube channel, stating, "I will not get involved as long as the event isn't held in a public space."

In a video titled 'Controversy over Seoul's Adult Festival! Let me be clear,' Mayor Oh said, "The Seoul Metropolitan Government has no intention of intervening in whether such shows are held in the city in the future." He continued, "However, when it comes to public spaces, the city has no choice but to intervene within the limits prescribed by law."

Initially, the KXF was planned to take place in Suwon on April 20 and 21. However, due to opposition from Suwon City, the organizers relocated the venue to 'Earth Cruise,' an outdoor bar in Jamwon Hangong Park in Seoul. The Seoul Metropolitan Government then sent a letter prohibiting the event at 'Earth Cruise,' warning that they could cancel the rental approval. Consequently, the venue was moved to a bar in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu. The event was ultimately canceled due to safety concerns raised by agencies of the Japanese adult video (AV) actresses.

After Seoul City opposed the hosting of the KXF event, there was significant public outcry online, with people calling for the cancellation of ongoing adult entertainment shows aimed at women. Additionally, on the day of the announcement, the Seoul City civic engagement platform 'Imagination Seoul' received complaints demanding a ban on performances that sexually objectify men.
