Although South Korea is widely recognized for its expansive mountain ranges, it also boasts numerous stunning beaches that deserve a visit. Especially as the spring season brings in the warm sun, here are six captivating Korean beaches for an enjoyable getaway!
1. Haeundae: Haeundae Beach, one of South Korea's most iconic destinations, is situated in the vibrant city of Busan. This picturesque beach offers pristine sandy shores, crystal-clear waters, and a delightful array of nearby dining options to enhance your visit!
2. Hamdeok: Located on the coastline of Jeju Island, Hamdeok Beach is the perfect place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of city life! If you're looking for a place just to relax and hear the waves, then this place is for you!
3. Yongmeori Coast: Not only do you get to view the blue sea from Jeju Island, but what makes this place so unique is the sandstone bed that has been created by layers of sand!
4. Songdo Beach: Accompanied by the Songdo Yonggung Suspension Bridge, this beach in Busan is actually the first man-made beach in Korea and opened back in 1913!
5. Jeongdongjin Beach: Jeongdongjin Beach in Gangneung captivates visitors not only with its serene sea and azure waves but also with a unique, ship-shaped hotel that overlooks the shore. This picturesque location, known as a prime spot to witness the New Year's Day sunrise, also features a fascinating train museum to enrich your beachside experience.
6. Naksan Beach: The breathtaking scenery of YangYang-gun is further enhanced by the presence of Naksansa, a revered Buddhist temple that majestically overlooks the East Sea, offering an unforgettable spiritual experience amidst stunning natural beauty.
Bonus: Maengbang Beach: Maengbang Beach in Gangwondo has become a major tourist destination as BTS photographed their "Butter" album cover here. If you drive one hour north, Jumunjin Beach in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, is also another popular photo spot as BTS photographed the cover of "Spring Day" here at a bus stop.
For a relaxing escape from the bustling urban centers in South Korea, consider exploring the serene beaches along Korea's picturesque coastline. These tranquil havens provide the perfect setting for unwinding and rejuvenating away from the usual city hustle.
I'm a Korean living in Korea so I understand I should know more, but the fact that this person didn't add Yangyang on this list just shows that this person knows nothing about Korea and probably never has visited. Yangyang and Gangreung is like THE hottest beach area in all of Korea for young adults and students. It's where all the influencers go as well and it's always popping. Haeundae is probably #1 only because it's Busan but not having Yangyang and Gangreung is a complete joke.
