Wheesung's family has changed the funeral arrangement plans to be held in private and set up a memorial altar for fans instead.

On March 13, Wheesung's agency announced, "The memorial altar will be open for visitors to pay their respects starting from 11 AM on the 14th."

They continued, "The bereaved family and those close to him earnestly request that the media refrain from covering the visitors outside the funeral hall, allowing the deceased to be mourned in peace."

Initially, the family had planned not to hold a formal funeral due to the severe shock of the bereaved and concerns for Wheesung's mother's health. However, following requests from fans and colleagues, a memorial altar has been arranged.

On March 12, Wheesung’s younger sibling shared the news, stating, "Our family was devastated by this immense loss, and out of concern for our mother, who loved my brother more than anyone, we initially decided to hold a quiet family-only funeral."

They added, "However, we believe it is only right to provide a time and place for those who cherished and loved my brother—both as the artist Wheesung and as a person, Choi Wheesung—to bid him farewell. That is why we have decided to set up a memorial altar."

Meanwhile, Wheesung was found deceased at his residence in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, on the evening of March 10 at approximately 6:29 PM.

Media outlets reported that syringes were found near him at the scene. On March 12, the National Forensic Service conducted an autopsy, but the exact cause of death has yet to be determined.
