On March 21, STARNEWS reported that Park Bo Gum is currently in discussions to take the lead role in the upcoming historical action film 'The Sword: A Legend of The Red Wolf,' directed by the acclaimed Kim Han Min. In response, Park Bo Gum’s agency, THEBLACKLABEL, confirmed that the actor has received an offer to star in the film and is carefully reviewing the proposal.
'The Sword: A Legend of The Red Wolf' will be the latest project from director Kim Han Min, known for his major historical action films like 'War of the Arrows,' 'The Admiral: Roaring Currents,' 'Hansan: Rising Dragon,' and 'Noryang: Deadly Sea.' Kim’s films are renowned for their gripping action sequences and historical depth, making this new film highly anticipated by fans of the genre.
If Park Bo Gum accepts the role, it will mark a reunion with director Kim Han Min after more than a decade. The two previously collaborated on 'The Admiral: Roaring Currents' (2014), where Park Bo Gum had a supporting role before rising to major stardom.
Set two years after the fall of Pyongyang Castle in Goguryeo, 'The Sword: A Legend of The Red Wolf' follows a warrior who loses his memory and becomes embroiled in a brutal power struggle among five factions fighting for the legendary Sword of Godumakhan, a symbol of immense power in Goguryeo’s history. Production is expected to begin as early as August.
Meanwhile, Park Bo Gum continues to captivate audiences worldwide with his role in Netflix's 'When Life Gives You Tangerines.' He is also set to return to television in May with JTBC’s highly anticipated weekend drama 'Good Boy.'
