BLACKPINK's Jennie has proven her musical talent, receiving a 7.1/10 rating from Pitchfork.
The online music publication, known for its music reviews, released its rating of Jennie's solo debut album, 'Ruby.' Pitchfork gave Jennie a 7.1 out of 10, which marks the highest score ever for a K-pop soloist on the platform (Note: Any rating over 7 is high for Pitchfork standards).
Not only that, Jennie has received the highest score among her BLACKPINK members, with Lisa's 'Alter Ego' receiving a 5.2 and Rosé's 'Rosie' receiving a 5.5. Impressively, Jennie also surpassed the group's highest score of 6.5 for the album 'Born Pink.'
"I think the album turned out really well. I like it."
"If Pitchfork gives it a 7, does that mean it’s at masterpiece level?"
"Every song is great."
"I really liked it."
"Personally, it feels like the most diverse among BLACKPINK solo albums."
"Billie Eilish’s debut album got a 7.2, so a 7-range score is pretty much a masterpiece by mainstream standards. If it’s 8 or above, that’s exceptionally high."
"Seriously, a freaking masterpiece."
"Personally, Lisa’s album was the most enjoyable BLACKPINK solo release for me, but maybe I just have bad taste... My ears, sigh"
"Pitchfork’s ratings have inflated lately, so a low 7 isn’t necessarily a masterpiece."
"I keep listening to Jennie’s album on repeat. It’s so good."
"Oh wow, that’s a really high rating."
"I used to pick and choose BLACKPINK songs, but with Jennie’s latest album, there’s literally nothing to skip. The vocals, sound, and message are all incredible."
