Actor Um Tae Goo braved the cold in Gwanghwamun Square, Seoul, during a cold wave warning, sharing warmth and kindness with those in need.
On the afternoon of the 4th, as bitter winds swept through the city, a crowd gathered in Gwanghwamun Square. Wearing a red vest, Um Tae Goo personally met with citizens while selling Big Issue, a magazine that supports the self-reliance of the homeless. His presence drew not only fans but also passersby, including foreign tourists, who eagerly purchased magazines and took photos with him.
Um Tae Goo first collaborated with Big Issue Korea as the cover model for its January issue this year. Building on that partnership, he took to the streets himself to provide hands-on support for Big Issue vendors working to rebuild their lives under challenging circumstances.
According to on-site officials interviewed by News 1, the volunteer initiative was personally suggested by Um Tae Goo through his agency. Despite winter gear being available at the event, he reportedly declined the extra protection, opting to experience the same conditions as the vendors who sell magazines on the streets daily.
Meanwhile, Um Tae Goo has recently gained global recognition for his role in the JTBC drama 'Playful Woman,' where he showcased a lovable character that starkly contrasts with his traditionally rugged image. He has also confirmed his appearance in the upcoming film 'Wild Thing' and is currently preparing for filming.
