It was recently revealed that Bae Yong Joon donated $2.25 million to Yonsei Medical Center.
According to a newsletter published by Yonsei Medical Center in December last year, Bae Yong Joon contributed the amount to support the institution’s development. Explaining his decision, Bae Yong Joon stated "Despite the challenging conditions in the medical field, I decided to donate with the hope that the center will continue to grow and lead the future of medicine." He further added, "I sincerely hope this donation will serve as a foundation for the medical center’s innovative future and contribute to creating a healthier world for all, including underprivileged youth and infants."
Meanwhile, Bae Yong Joon and his wife Park Soo Jin recently made a donation to their child’s prestigious private school in Hawaii. Their names were listed among donors who contributed between $10,000 and $24,999 for the 2024-2025 academic year at Iolani School, which annually discloses donor names on its website. Given the couple’s wealth, some considered the donation a modest sum.
Bae Yong Joon married Park Soo Jin in 2015, and they have a son (born in 2016) and a daughter (born in 2018). The couple moved to Hawaii in 2022, sparking rumors of retirement. In January last year, Park Soo Jin updated her Instagram for the first time in two years, sharing a photo of what appeared to be artwork created by her children.
Bae Yong Joon has been on an extended hiatus from acting since making a special appearance in the 2011 drama ‘Dream High 2’. In 2018, he sold his shares in KEYEAST, the entertainment agency he founded, to SM Entertainment. Park Soo Jin has also been inactive in the entertainment industry since appearing in the 2016 variety show ‘Oksu-dong Apprentice’. Reports later surfaced that she had quietly ended her contract with KEYEAST, with sources stating, "She has not been active in the industry for years, and her exclusive contract was terminated a long time ago."
