Kakao Entertainment's Melon platform has unveiled its highly anticipated 2024 Annual Chart, showcasing the most popular songs in both domestic and international music scenes. The chart provides insights into the music trends that shaped the year and highlights standout artists and their hits.

TWS claimed the top spot on the domestic annual chart with their debut track 'Plot Twist', creating a sensation in the music world. ILLIT, another rookie group, made a strong impression by securing 8th place with their debut song 'Magnetic.'

The girl group trend continued to dominate, with (G)I-DLE’s 'Fate' achieving a remarkable chart resurgence, finishing 2nd. 

aespa followed closely in 3rd place, thanks to their hit 'Supernova,' which set a record for the longest streak at No. 1 on Melon’s weekly chart. aespa also made waves with other tracks like 'Drama,' 'Armageddon,' and 'Spicy,' establishing their position as a leading group in the industry.

NewJeans also made a significant impact, with their track 'How Sweet' securing 15th place on the annual chart. The group demonstrated their lasting power by placing a total of eight songs in the top 100, including hits from 2022 and 2023. IVE showed remarkable staying power as well, with their 2023 release 'I AM' finishing at 21st, while earlier tracks like 'HEYA' (26th) also appeared on the chart.

Bands made a strong presence this year. DAY6 achieved a double resurgence with 'Time of Our Life' and 'You Were Beautiful,' placing 5th and 7th respectively. Additionally, their 2024 songs 'Welcome to the Show' and 'Happy' also made it onto the chart. QWER, a band revitalizing the girl-band genre, earned 10th place with 'T.B.H' and 91st with 'My Name is Malguem.' ECLIPSE, a band featured in the drama 'Lovely Runner,' continued to enjoy steady popularity with their song 'Sudden Shower,' ranking 14th.

Solo artists also left a mark on the charts. IU confirmed her enduring popularity by securing 4th place with 'Love wins all' and 74th with 'Holssi.' BLACKPINK’s Rosé and pop superstar Bruno Mars collaborated on'Apartment (APT),' which, despite being released in October, made an impressive 46th place.

Internationally, Charlie Puth continued his dominance with 'I Don’t Think That I Like Her,' securing the No. 1 spot on the Pop Annual Chart for the second consecutive year. NewJeans also made waves abroad, with their Japanese debut 'Super Natural' placing 2nd on the international annual chart.
