ONEWE member Dongmyeong is gaining widespread attention for openly sharing his participation in the current impeachment protests as a K-pop idol.

On an online forum, netizens discussed a message shared by Dongmyeong on his fan communication platform, where he posted an image and a note addressing the ongoing rallies calling for the impeachment of South Korea's President Yoon Seok Yeol. The protests follow President Yoon's declaration of martial law last Tuesday.

The image, seemingly taken by Dongmyeong himself, showed the scene outside the National Assembly, where over 100,000 protesters had gathered. It was implied that Dongmyeong personally participated in the rally in solidarity with the protesters. 

Alongside the image, he wrote:

"My company advises me to be cautious, but I’m carefully leaving this message. This is not a political statement or an expression of any political stance; rather, it is the voice of an ordinary young person in South Korea exercising their right to vote with rightful and healthy thoughts. Our future is precious, after all. To all WEVEs, please take care of your health wherever you are and stay strong. I’ll keep you in my prayers."

Netizens praised Dongmyeong for sharing his thoughts in what they described as an "intelligent and thoughtful manner." Many admired his courage to exercise his rights as a citizen, despite potential risks and warnings from RBW Entertainment, his agency.

In the current political climate where celebrities often face scrutiny for remaining silent or clapping back at such accusations, Dongmyeong's stance has earned him acclaim among several netizens for sharing his views respectfully.

Dongmyeong, a vocalist and keyboardist for the band ONEWE, first gained public attention as a trainee on 'Produce 101 Season 2.' He is also the twin brother of ONEUS's Xion.
