"Mega" YouTube creator couple, Jin (Heo Jin Woo) and Hattie (Harriet Emily Heo), with over 9 million subscribers, appeared as special guests on the latest episode of 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny' to give a glimpse into their daily lives and also talk about their income from their channel.
The couple, who boast 9 million subscribers and an estimated annual income of 6.3 billion KRW (~4.5 million USD), have reached 5.8 billion views just four years after launching their channel.
Sitting next to Jin, Hattie, who is from the United Kingdom, shared that she first came to Korea in 2019 as an English teacher and is now in her fifth year living in Korea. Playfully greeting everyone with her beginner-level Korean, Hattie joked, “My Korean is at kindergarten level.”
The two are the same age and they met at 23 and married at 25. When the producers asked Hattie why she decided to marry Jin Woo, she expressed her affection, saying, “Just look at Jin Woo. It’s easy to fall in love. I love him.”
Jin Woo joked in response, “It felt like I was being led along by Hattie. The next thing I knew, I was married and now filming 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2'—it’s that kind of feeling.”
That morning, Jin Woo started the day with a live broadcast, showing off his energy. Although he has 9 million subscribers, fewer than 50 people were watching his live stream that morning.
He joked, “The income from live streams varies a lot. I don’t do it for the money. Today’s live stream earnings? Probably about the cost of two fried chickens,” making everyone laugh.
He explained that their primary source of income is ad revenue from YouTube videos, saying, “I upload videos (including shorts) almost every day. Sometimes, I even post two in a day.” Hearing this, Risabae, who appeared as a special panelist, empathized sharing, “In the early days, I also did live streams for over three hours every day.”
Jin Woo also revealed that they now live in a Gangnam apartment. He said, “Hattie and I worked our way up from the bottom together. We started in a semi-basement in Chuncheon with mold and cockroaches, then moved to Sindang-dong and Jongno. After five years, we finally made it to an apartment in Gangnam.”
