Actor Jung Woo Sung has acknowledged having a child out of wedlock, and his fans have issued a statement expressing their unwavering support.
On November 25th KST, Jung Woo Sung’s fans released an official statement, saying, “In light of the recent controversy surrounding actor Jung Woo Sung’s personal life, we firmly support the agency’s stance that he will ‘do his best as a father for his child.’ We trust in Jung Woo Sung’s resolute character.”
The fans added, “Considering examples like Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the world’s best soccer players, we sincerely hope this serves as an opportunity for South Korea to adopt a more open mindset and further develop its cultural landscape.”
They also highlighted Jung Woo Sung’s 10-year service as an Honorary Regional Representative for the UN Refugee Agency in Asia-Pacific since 2014, recalling his statement: “Caring about refugees isn’t simply about helping people in need; it’s about raising our voices to eliminate conflicts causing these issues.”
Furthermore, the fans urged Jung Woo Sung to provide a clear explanation at the 29th Blue Dragon Film Awards, stating, “For the sake of the reputation he has built as an actor and an ambassador, we strongly encourage him to address the matter transparently at the upcoming ceremony.”
The controversy first arose on November 24th, when reports revealed that model Moon Ga Bi recently gave birth to a son whose father is Jung Woo Sung. According to the reports, the two met at a gathering in 2022 and grew close, with Moon Gabi becoming pregnant with Jung Woo Sung’s child in June of last year.
In response, Jung Woo Sung’s agency, Artist Company, confirmed in an official statement, “The child Moon Ga Bi revealed on social media is indeed Jung Woo Sung’s biological son. Discussions are ongoing to determine the best way to approach parenting, and he will do his utmost for the child as a father.”
Meanwhile, Jung Woo Sung has been nominated for Best Actor at the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards for his role in the film ‘12.12: The Day’, which was released in November last year.
