As (G)I-DLE's leader Jeon Soyeon has publicly acknowledged her contract expiration in November, all eyes are on her next move.
According to a report from TenAsia, rumors of Soyeon signing with KOZ Entertainment, headed by Zico under HYBE, appear unlikely.
An industry insider revealed, "While rumors of Soyeon joining forces with Zico have spread, there has been no actual progress." KOZ also confirmed, "We have no connection with Jeon Soyeon."
While Soyeon’s contract with Cube Entertainment is set to expire in two months, the lack of contact between Soyeon and KOZ suggests that both parties may not prioritize each other.
Previously, Soyeon stirred headlines during her solo stage at her 'IDOL' concert on August 3rd, where she changed lyrics to say, "Who needs to care about what others think?" and added, "My contract ends in November. Who can stop me?" — hinting at her contract expiration.
Cube later responded, "We knew about the performance but weren’t aware of the specific changes."
This has fueled speculation that Soyeon has no intention of renewing with Cube. An insider stated, "Soyeon’s performance seems to reflect her intentions, and staying with Cube may now be difficult."
However, another industry source pointed out that Soyeon’s spontaneous behavior during her concert has become a concern.
As her contract nears its end, Soyeon is currently on (G)I-DLE's world tour, with her future expected to become clearer after the tour concludes on November 2nd. Fans are eager to see whether she stays with Cube, signs with another company, or establishes her own independent label.
