EXO’s Baekhyun shared his experience with sasaengs.
On September 24th KST, EXO member Baekhyun appeared on the YouTube channel "Neighborhood Star K" in a video titled “EXO Baekhyun Does Everything He’s Asked to Do (ft. EXO Sasaeng Stories, 50 Million KRW Reverse Fan Service, Doctor’s Gown).”
In the video, host Jonathan reminisced about EXO’s peak popularity, saying, “During EXO’s heyday, it was crazy. Back in sixth grade, there were so many girls calling themselves Baekhyun’s wife. It was real.” Baekhyun responded, “I’m really sad that I never got to see or experience that myself.”
Jonathan also mentioned seeing Baekhyun on billboards for Pepero, cosmetics, and school uniforms, sharing his sense of pride at now interviewing him. He then asked, “You’ve been an idol for 13 years and have experienced a lot, right?” Baekhyun nodded, saying, “I’ve been through a lot.”
Baekhyun continued, “I’ve had a lot of phone calls with sasaengs. I even went after them. It was like playing a game of cops and robbers,” he said. “When I was feeling sensitive, I’d get constant calls, and it drove me crazy. When I answered, they’d say strange things, so I’d tell them, ‘Get a grip, and wash your face.’”
He further shared, “When I moved into a place with supposedly good security, they still managed to break in. One time I noticed someone suspicious and asked how they got in. Suddenly, their friends appeared from between the cars in the underground parking lot, like Avengers,” shocking the audience.
Jonathan, hearing this, said, “The way you’re talking about it so calmly shows how much you’ve been through.” Baekhyun agreed, adding, “I have a lot of war stories.”
When Jonathan said, “You’ve worked hard,” Baekhyun smiled and responded, “It’s all just memories now.”
