On the afternoon of July 10 KST, Park Soo Hong will appear as a witness in the appeal trial of his brother and sister-in-law, who are facing charges of embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes at the Seoul High Court.
Park Soo Hong has requested the court to install partitions to prevent the defendants from seeing him during his testimony.
Park Soo Hong's brother and sister-in-law are accused of embezzling a total of 6.2 billion KRW (approximately 5.4 million USD) from his appearance fees and other earnings while running entertainment agencies Lael and Media Boom from 2011 to 2021. Park Soo Hong filed a complaint against them for embezzlement in 2022.
In the first trial, the court sentenced Park Soo Hong's older brother to two years in prison while acquitting his sister-in-law. The court found them guilty of embezzling 2 billion KRW Lael and 1.3 billion KRW from Media Boom, totaling 3.3 billion KRW. However, they were acquitted of charges related to the misuse of Park Soo Hong's personal funds.
