The popular TvN drama 'Queen of Tears' has broken another personal record and reached the 20% viewer rating mark.
According to Nielsen Korea, the 12th episode of tvN's weekend drama 'Queen of Tears' (written by Park Ji Eun and directed by Jang Young Woo and Kim Hee Won) aired on April 14 achieved a new personal best in ratings. The nationwide average stood at 20.7%, while in the Seoul metropolitan area, it reached an impressive 23.2%.
The drama has been on a steady upward trend. After reaching its personal best of 19% in the 10th episode, the ratings saw a slight dip to 16.8% in the 11th episode aired on April 13. However, in the 12th episode, it finally surpassed the 20% mark.
With this achievement, 'Queen of Tears' has now surpassed 'Guardian: The Lonely and Great God' (20.5%) to claim the second-highest rating in tvN history. Only the all-time high record of 'Crash Landing on You' (21.7%) remains to be beaten.
In the episode that aired on April 14, the love between Baek Hyun Woo (played by Kim Soo Hyun) and Hong Hae In (played by Kim Ji Won) deepened. Meanwhile, Hong Man Dae (played by Kim Gap Soo) met his end, concluding with Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won searching for the 900 billion KRW (~647.9 million USD) hidden in a panic room.
Baek Hyun Woo then brings Hong Hae In to Yoon Eun Sung's (portrayed by Park Sung Hoon) home and proposes to her again. Already married, he urges her to reconsider the divorce papers.
Meanwhile, 'Queen of Tears' charts the turbulent love story of Hong Hae In, a third-generation Chaebol, and Baek Hyun Woo, a son of farmers from Yongdu-ri, capturing the highs and lows of their relationship. Since its premiere on March 9 KST, the drama has mesmerized audiences, with the 12th episode reaching an impressive viewer rating of 20.7%.
