Former idol trainee Han Seo Hee has been in the spotlight for various reasons over the years. She has recently garnered attention after allegedly leaked a Kakaotalk conversation with actor Ahn Hyo Seop.
Following the leak, a complaint was filed with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on February 7. Attorney Kim So Yeon of Lawfirm Will filed a complaint against Han Seo Hee, citing two main violations: the first being an offense of obscenity through the use of communication media under the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes, and the second being defamation under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
Now, media outlet Money Today is bringing attention to her relationship with the entertainment media outlet 'Dispatch.' This is because she mentioned Dispatch in the alleged conversation with Ahn Hyo Seop.
In the Kakaotalk conversation, which was released on a Kakaotalk Open Chat, Han Seo Hee says to Ahn Hyo Seop, "Don't worry about Dispatch; I have them firmly under my grip."
Regarding the mention of Dispatch in the conversation, Attorney Kim explained in the complaint, "It was revealed in court that Han Seo Hee conspired with Dispatch at their office to fabricate accusations against Yang Hyun Suk, the head of YG Entertainment, to attack celebrities and the agency. After this incident, other celebrities began to distance themselves from Han Seo Hee, so Han Seo Hee mentioned Dispatch to reassure actor A (Ahn Hyo Seop)."
During the criminal case trials concerning allegations of obstruction in a drug investigation involving Yang Hyun Suk, significant details emerged about Han Seo Hee's involvement. Around May 2019, Han Seo Hee was found to have collaborated with Dispatch editor Im, attorney Bang Jung Hyun, and SBS Entertainment News reporter Kang Kyung Yoon at the Dispatch office. Their meetings focused on planning to submit anonymous complaints to the National Human Rights Commission about the misconduct of YG Entertainment's general producer. Furthermore, it came to light that Dispatch had taken on the responsibility of paying the legal fees for these consultations.
Before these events, Han Seo Hee had pursued a career in the entertainment industry, appearing on MBC's 'Star Audition: The Great Birth Season 3' in 2013. Following her stint on the show, she briefly trained with agencies such as Jellyfish and Pledis, aiming for a role in the entertainment field. However, her journey took a turn as she faced multiple drug-related offenses after leaving the trainee life behind.
In 2016, Han Seo Hee faced legal repercussions for marijuana use alongside Big Bang's T.O.P, receiving a suspended sentence of three years in prison with a probation period of four years. During this probation, she was found guilty of methamphetamine use, resulting in a prison sentence of one year and six months in 2021, after which she was taken into custody. Her time was served at the Suwon Detention Center and Cheongju Women's Prison, with her release occurring in November 2023.
Han Seo Hee served as a witness during Yang Hyun Suk's trial. She clarified that her initial encounter with him took place at an entertainment establishment known as 'Ten Pro.' Contrary to circulating rumors, Han Seo Hee was never a trainee at YG, addressing the misinformation regarding her association with the agency.
Han Seo Hee revealed, "I started working at the entertainment establishment through an introduction from a lady named Jung, and on the first day, she gave me 2 million KRW (1,500 USD) just for sitting there for three hours, and I started working there afterward." Han Seo Hee also claimed to have been close with B.I., who was under YG Entertainment, and claimed she used marijuana and LSD together. She first mentioned B.I. and others during police questioning for a separate drug offense at the Yongin Dongbu Police Station.
Afterward, Han Seo Hee reported to the National Human Rights Commission through lawyer Bang Jung Hyun, alleging that Yang Hyun Suk had threatened her to retract the statements she made during the police investigation involving B.I.
Utilizing the whistleblower protection clause of the National Human Rights Commission, Han Seo Hee was exempted from criminal prosecution despite admitting to supplying LSD and using it together with B.I. However, criticism was raised in July 2020, less than a year later, when she tested positive for drugs in a urine test and was prosecuted again, accused of abusing the whistleblower protection system.
While the initial trial court in Yang Hyun Suk's case found him not guilty, citing skepticism towards Han Seo Hee's testimony, the situation changed in November last year. The appellate court acknowledged the prosecution's added charge of 'coercion to testify' and sentenced him to a suspended sentence of six months in prison with a one-year probation. Currently, the case is pending review in the Supreme Court.
Dispatch is, to a large extent, a tabloid, so is it really that surprising that they're conspiring with and supporting the person who is consistently providing them with material, she's like a gold mine for them
