Dispatch reported that the Korean Railway Corporation (KORAIL) employee who had illegally accessed the personal information of RM from BTS was reinstated after a second review.
On December 22, Kim Du Gwan, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, disclosed the Central Labor Relations Commission's review decision submitted by the Korean Railway Corporation. The Central Labor Commission ordered the reinstatement and regular wage payment of 'A,' who had been dismissed.
'A,' who was responsible for IT development at KORAIL, improperly accessed RM's personal data over three years starting in 2019. This included confidential details such as ticket purchases, address, and phone number.
Under the Personal Information Protection Act, customer data should only be used as necessary for service processing, not purposes related to non-business.
KORAIL uncovered 'A's improper access during an internal audit. The audit revealed that 'A' didn't just look at RM's information but also at other employees' personal data. 'A' was initially fired in April following the incident.
The employee challenged the dismissal, requesting a review, which was denied due to the severe nature of the breach. However, upon appeal, the Central Labor Commission overturned the decision, and 'A' has been subsequently reinstated.

I'm so confused on what grounds she could be reinstated to the same job. At the very least why not a job where they can't access information anymore?
