On December 19n KST, Babsang Community Briquette Bank revealed that an anonymous benefactor had contributed a generous donation of 12,000 briquettes. The act of kindness caught attention not only for its substantial contribution but also for the anonymity of the donor, who was later revealed to be none other than former Big Bang member T.O.P.
T.O.P's donation was channeled through his account on the Briquette Bank website, with no mention of his name attached to the contribution. It was later disclosed that the source of the donation came from the proceeds of T.O.P's wine brand 'T'SPOT,' which he launched in January of the previous year.
The Briquette Bank has plans to distribute the 12,000 briquettes, made possible by T.O.P's sponsorship, to various households in need. CEO Heo Ki Bok of Babsang Community/Briquette Bank commented on the challenging year-end situation, citing factors like high inflation and rising oil prices affecting many. He emphasized the continued need for support and mentioned that the Briquette Bank still aims to distribute an additional 500,000 briquettes to meet its goal of providing 3 million pieces this year. He urged the public to take an interest in helping households relying on briquettes across the nation.
T.O.P, who has faced personal challenges, hinted at retirement from the entertainment industry. This followed his sentencing to 10 months in prison and two years of probation in 2016 for marijuana use. After participating in Big Bang's new song "Still Life", T.O.P left YG Entertainment and subsequently departed from Big Bang. Recently, he was cast in the Netflix drama 'Squid Game 2.'
Hope he's doing well and taking care of himself. The news about Lee Sun-gyung today and this article together made me remember what everything TOP went through in 2016 and how we almost lost him.
I wish allkpop writers would stop mentioning his past and only announce the good news, he literally donated, so why the last piece of old information?!
