On December 27 KST, the Incheon Central Police Station reported the arrest of an individual, identified as 'A', on suspicion of fraud in connection with a ticket scam related to the '2023 SBS Gayo Daejeon' event.
'A' allegedly deceived victims by offering to sell them tickets for the SBS Gayo Daejeon, which took place in Incheon on December 25 KST. However, instead of providing the tickets, they pocketed the money by having it deposited into their account. The fraudulent scheme was executed through online social networking services (SNS), where 'A' posed as a ticket seller.
Investigators have confirmed that the funds received from the victims were subsequently transferred to another person. It has been reported that some of the victims were international fans.
SBS became aware of the situation after the event and promptly requested a police investigation. Law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene on the day of the 'Gayo Daejeon' following an emergency report. 'A' is currently being questioned by the police, and authorities are looking into the possibility of his involvement with any accomplices.
A police official stated, "We are in the process of determining the extent of the financial losses incurred by victims and identifying the individual who received the funds from 'A'." Additionally, the police are investigating whether the recipient of the funds was complicit in the fraudulent activities.
If Incheon Central Police Station are involved (again) lets hope whoever they've arrested really did it, as they'll probably get the blame anyway since they need to find a culprit quickly for PR purposes.
