On the August 17 broadcast of SM Entertainment's new NCT team formation project 'NCT Universe : LASTART', the trainees continued to compete in the second evaluation round, featuring hit SM Entertainment boy group songs.

On this day, the "U" team took to the stage along with Sion and Yushi, the two S.M.ROOKIES members whose debut in NCT is currently confirmed. After the stage, the directors noted the significant growth of contestants such as Minjae, Ryu, Riku, and Sakuya. However, toward Haruta, they commented, "We have no comments because you never stood out." 

With the end of the second evaluation round came the second round rankings. This time, the #1 spot went to Jungmin, with the former 1st place trainee Riku taking 2nd place. Sakuya ranked in 3rd place, Minjae ranked 4th, Anderson ranked 5th, and Ryu and Ryo both came in 6th place together. 8th place went to Kassho, 9th place went to Haruta, and finally, Heitetsu once again ranked in 10th place for the second consecutive evaluation round. 

Next, the 10 trainees were introduced to the upcoming third evaluation round, a battle of SM Entertainment artists' Japanese title tracks featuring EXO's "Electric Kiss" and TVXQ's "Keep Your Head Down". 

Finally, toward the end of this week's episode, the contestants welcomed a new trainee to the program, Daeyoung. The trainee briefly introduced himself as a vocal member born in 2005 from Daegu, raising anticipation for the next round.
