On June 16, ahead of his first solo concert 'OO-LI' in Manila, the Philippines, WOODZ (Jo Seung Youn) sat down with the press to answer some questions.
"When I lived in the Philippines, my dream was [to become a] singer," said WOODZ, who is now a successful singer who performed at a jam-packed concert at the New Frontier Theater, "I'm so happy."
Explaining what this world tour is all about, the singer shared that his recent album, with the same title as his tour, allowed him to show his inner self to the fans. Furthermore, through the album-making process, he was able to reflect on himself. "I want to become 'OO-LI' ('woo-ri' in Korean means us, together), so I want to be together with my fans," he commented.
He added on, "My tour and album 'OO-LI' are important things in life. I was worried a lot about my projects. But throughout the process, I was able to find myself and reflect. All the love and support given by the fans made me feel relieved."
He shared that the important keyword in this album is honesty. "I really wanted to be honest, not only to myself in the present but also the future. During the last stop, when I was in Kuala Lumpur, I got sick and caught a cold. I thought I really need to care about myself well until the end of this tour."
WOODZ's 'OO-LI' show in Manila was presented by PULP Live World.
WOODZ cannot be appreciated enough. One of the most interesting musicians/artists in the Kpop industry. His talent is undeniable, and I love how he changes things up and experiments with different genres and concepts on his releases. Truly an all-rounder. I will never get over his live performance of "Accident". Plus he appears to be a genuinely nice person.
