According to media outlet Ilgan Sports on June 1 KST, SM Entertainment recently forwarded a legal document directed at the entertainment agency Big Planet Made, claiming that the latter attempted to recruit SM Entertainment artists.
A representative of SME told Ilgan Sports,"It's true that SM Entertainment forwarded a legal document to Big Planet Made."
It seems that Big Planet Made recently fell to suspicion after musician/producer MC Mong, who is believed to be listed as an executive director at Big Planet Made, held a meeting with EXO members Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen some time ago.
However, according to Big Planet Made, there was no attempt by the agency to make contact with Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen for business reasons. A rep from the agency commented, "MC Mong met with his hoobae artists for a personal gathering, there was no attempt to recruit them as artists." Big Planet Made then clarified that MC Mong is not an executive director at the agency, either.
Big Planet Made, founded in 2021 by the producer team Duble Sidekick, is currently home to VIVIZ, Soyu, Ha Sung Woon, Huh Gak, and Ren. While MC Mong did not start out as a member of Duble Sidekick, he has worked with the team as a producer for numerous years since his military draft dodging controversy, using the producer name "Duble Sidekick 1" or "Lee Yong Hwan".
Meanwhile, soon after the news that EXO members Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen had filed to terminate their exclusive contracts with SM Entertainment caused massive shock in the entertainment industry, SM Entertainment raised the claim that "outside forces" were attempting to recruit their agency artists using underhanded means.
Translation: We're a modest company, we're minding our business, don't drag us into this mess please and thank you.
