Jimin's power and influence continue to be a hot topic as more and more demonstrations of his impact keep coming up in different matters. From his insurmountable brand power to the success of his solo projects that consistently set unprecedented records in K-pop and in music generally, there is no sector where Jimin does not stand among the best of the best.
Social media is no exception to 'the Jimin effect.' Time and again, Jimin continues to prove himself as a 'social media king' with numerous records prompted by his overwhelming global popularity. He has especially dominated Instagram for a long time, even before the members of BTS launched their individual Instagram accounts. Presently, he holds the record as the world's most-mentioned individual on the platform with his hashtag #jimin, which has accumulated over 69.5 million posts. There are other variations of his name that also have millions of posts.
Holding such a big record, it is expected that Jimin will dominate any area of the platform as an individual, be it among influencers or regarding followers and engagements.
Data collected by Hype Auditor website as of August 23 placed Jimin at the top of South Korea's Top Instagram Influencers by the number of quality and engaged followers, with an accumulated 42.7 million followers.
Jimin deserves to be applauded for such an achievement because he is hardly active on the platform, with only 27 posts and no stories or reels posted to date, making him the least active BTS member. Still, he manages to get the most engagements and of the highest quality as his followers are always anticipating to see a post from him for the much impact that he has.
Data from another analysis website K-pop Radar as of the same day, further indicated that Jimin was the most followed artist on the platform over the past month, in which he was also the most followed artist for 3 out of the four weeks of that past month.
His steady popularity and dominance on the platform continues to prove his status as the 'SNS KING.'
Looking back just a while after the individual Instagram accounts were launched, another social media analysis platform Social Tracker, indicated that Jimin had the highest engagement rate among all the seven members. The engagement rate shows the number of followers of an account who actively engage with content posted on that account, such as by liking, commenting, or sharing the posts. Jimin ranked the highest in the engagement rate despite being the least active on the platform back then, and he has still remained the least active to date.
Of note is that brands will usually value a high engagement rate over the number of followers when seeking a brand ambassador or product endorser.
Jimin has especially attracted lots of celebrity followers and often ranks as the most followed artist on the platform in the daily, weekly, and monthly rankings as he continues to extend his record as the world's most mentioned person on the platform with each new milestone of the number of posts to his name tag #jimin.
