BLACKPINK have achieved yet another impressive record with their latest release!
On August 19 at 1 PM KST, BLACKPINK made their highly-anticipated comeback with the single "Pink Venom". Shortly after its release, the song immediately rose to the top of major domestic music charts including Bugs, Genie, Melon, and Flo. Earlier, "Pink Venom" wrapped up its final first-day count for the number of unique listeners it has accumulated on Melon. With over 468,000 unique listeners in its first 24 hours, BLACKPINK have set a new record among girl groups.
With this, "Pink Venom" broke the record for the most unique listeners among girl groups this year, becoming the song by a female act with the most unique listeners on the first day. Overall, "Pink Venom" comes in second place, after Big Bang's "Still Life." Furthermore, "Pink Venom" is ranked fourth on Melon in terms of first-day unique listeners since its chart reform behind only "Still Life," IU's "Strawberry Moon," and BE'O's "Counting Stars (Feat. Beenzino)."
Currently, "Pink Venom" has nearly 20,000 likes on Melon and is at #2 on its real-time music chart as of 3 PM KST. Meanwhile, "Pink Venom" is a pre-release single from the group's upcoming second full-length album 'Born Pink', to be released next month.
Congratulations to BLACKPINK on their achievements with "Pink Venom"!
Like I’ve said during previous comebacks, I wish Blinks wouldn’t just blindly consume anything this group releases. It gives YGE absolutely zero reason to switch up producers when their mediocre at best songs do so well. Which is a shame for the girls who keep being given increasingly terrible songs which will only feed the haters. It’s time time to ditch Teddy, PLEASE!
