EXO's Chanyeol limited edition photocard for Meissa's song is the latest must-have in K-Pop
Who thought a military musical would have some of the priciest photocards in K-Pop history?
Ever since EXO's Chanyeol enlisted in the military in March 2021, he has done everything you could do as a soldier: Get into one of the toughest divisions? Done. Be rewarded with two early promotions? Done.
But, his latest adventure is making the military books. EXO's main rapper is currently part of the military musical "Blue Helmet: A song of Meissa" alongside ONF's Hyojin and actor Jang Ki-yong. There, he plays the main role of Laman, a man from the country of Khamur who, after being inspired by a particular individual, comes to Korea in order to become a K-pop idol. The musical's unprecedented success locally and globally prompted the production company and the South Korean ministry of interior defense to create limited edition photocards of the main characters.
Quickly, Chanyeol's photocards have become a major topic of conversation. The demand to have one of the few Chanyeol military photocards got to the point that the lucky ones in possession of one have started selling the photocards for over 2,000 dollars USD, becoming one of the priciest k-pop idol photo cards in the collection game right now.
Other fans put their crafty talent on the table by offering a self-made version of the photocards to buy on Etsy/Ali Express thanks to the HD photos of the photocards, and the stocks have constantly been selling out.
I can say that it was indeed a great marketing plan.
See when you’re in an active division excelling as a soldier but also can’t hide your talent nor visuals this is what happens. SM should know how lucky they are to have such an all rounder multitalented idol in their company!
