A-ing’s all over platforms such as TikTok and Twitter are claiming Soyeon dissed HyunA in not one but two tracks from (G)I-DLE's latest album, “I never die.”
The first verse fans pointed out is around the 1:11 mark from the main track of the album, Tomboy. “I don’t wanna play this ping pong, I would rather film a TikTok,” which could refer to HyunA’s 2021 release alongside Dawn, Ping-Pong, deeming it as uninteresting.
Although up to here, it seems they may have just coincidentally used the same terms, the second extract belonging to the b-side track, Never stop me, at the 1:09 mark into the song seems less likely to be a vague coincidence. “Scolded by daddy, out of the company. Looking forward to your wedding...”
As pretty much everyone remembers, in August 2018, it was revealed that HyunA was in a relationship with Dawn, at the time a Pentagon member, and signed under the same company Cube Entertainment. Both were kicked out of Cube Entertainment after the news was confirmed by the artists themselves, but the relationship remains strong to this day, and they even announced their engagement back in January of this year.
Before jumping to conclusions, it's important to take into account that (G)I-DLE began working on their full album last year, way before HyunA and Dawn’s marriage proposal was announced. Also, Never Stop Me is a song that tells the story of a toxic relationship, and Soyeon, in her alleged “diss” verse, could be referring to an event that occurred in an imaginary scenario.
Both artists have been compared in the past for their similar rapping styles and for being both the most well-known female faces of Cube Entertainment. And although while being under the same company they have shown warm affection towards each other during events and concerts, we never know what goes on behind the camera.
None of the artists involved have yet addressed the issue, and it's hard to confirm whether the verses were directly aimed at Hyuna or if it’s just an unfortunate coincidence. Comment below; what do you think about the issue?
It's too weird to just be a simple coincidence and at the same time : WHY ??? Why would she purposely "sabotage" herself by dissing Hyuna?
