BLACKPINK have topped Oricon's daily album chart with the Japanese release of 'THE ALBUM'.
According to YG Entertainment on August 4, 'THE ALBUM -JP Ver.-' ranked #1 on Oricon's 'Daily Album' chart. It also ranked #1 on Apple Music's 'Top Album' chart in Japan, proving BLACKPINK's popularity worldwide. BLACKPINK's Japanese release of their first full studio album also dominated digital music charts. Their tracks "How You Like That" and "Lovesick Girls" climbed to the top of Japan's major music charts, including LINE Music, AWA, and iTunes.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK will celebrate their 5th debut anniversary on August 8th. The film 'BLACKPINK: THE MOVIE', which had been produced to commemorate their upcoming anniversary, was released in theaters today (August 4th KST), in more than 100 different countries all around the world.
To be honest, I understand Japanese quite well, Korean, almost not at all. BLACKPINK songs do not sound right to me in Japanese. I have seen BP live twice in Japan, and as great as they were in concert….and they are fantastic LIVE. I would have preferred the Korean versions! But congrats girls, on the love and support you receive and deserve!
