Jungkook's 'Never Not' is India's most retweeted in music genre and #2 most retweeted in the world for 2020, only a slight dip from his big win last year
STAR CONTRIBUTOR
Twitter announced in their 2020 Year In Review article that Jungkook's "Never Not" Tweet is listed as the #2 most retweeted Tweet in the world for 2020, while the Tweet announcing Chadwick Boseman's passing ranks at #1. Twitter Korea also announced it on their account, along with the news of BTS ranks #1 most Tweeted musician for 4 consecutive years.
Jungkook's "Never Not" Tweet is also #8 most retweeted tweet in the world of all time, it is the only tweet from @BTS_twt that made it into the Top 10. Jungkook is also the only person in the world to have the 3 most retweeted tweets in the Top 15; "Never Not" (#8), "Duh" (#11), and Savage Love #SavageLoveRemix (#15).
Jungkook experienced only a slight dip from his big win last year, as in 2019 Jungkook's "Duh" Tweet which shows him dancing to Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy," was #1 most retweeted Tweet in the world. Twitter announced Jungkook took over the throne on their @TwitterData account and their Year In Review article "#ThisHappened in 2019".
This also results in Jungkook holding the most retweeted tweet by a K-pop idol for 3 consecutive years. In 2018, Jungkook's Tweet of him singing Park Won's "All Of My Life" was the most retweeted Tweet in Korea. Twitter Korea announced the Tweet as the Golden Tweet 2018.
Jungkook's Twitter popularity was actually prominent since 2017, when a Tweet posted by V which shows Jungkook being fed french fries while he was sleeping was announced as the most retweeted Tweet in Asia, or Asia's Golden Tweet for 2017.
Previously Jungkook made huge headlines when he became the only person in the world besides Barack Obama to have more than 1 tweet with over 2 million likes on Twitter. Korean and international media reported the news, highlighting Jungkook's immense worldwide popularity on the same level as the ex-POTUS.
Now that ARMY fandom grows bigger, all BTS members have at least 2 million likes for their Tweets.
Speaking of growing fandom, Jungkook's "Never Not" tweet had a history of "doubling the size of the fandom", as it literally doubled the amount of daily new followers for BTS Twitter account after Jungkook posted it. The new followers surged up to nearly 46,000 for the day, which is more than double their usual daily growth which was around 20,000 new followers. K-pop columnist Jeff Benjamin posted about this on his account:
Jungkook truly dominates Twitter and the best part is; he doesn't even have an individual account and you can actually count on two hands how many times he posts in a whole year!
King of Twitter despite coming there twice a year
