Netizens have begun to direct their suspicions toward Yoo Byung Jae.
Yoo Byung Jae, an active entertainer signed under YG Entertainment, has been well-known in the past for his open and witty ways of satirizing society's 'problematic issues', including those of his own label. In the past, he has gone so far as to even make remarks about YG Entertainment being a "pharmacy", at his very own stand-up comedy show back in April of last year.
Because he had spoken up about such issues in the past, netizens have begun to wonder why the entertainer has suddenly stepped away from his social position as a commentator against YG. Some have left comments on his Instagram, with accusations that he may be purposefully remaining silent.
"Excuse me, Mr. Byung Jae..all those satirical remarks and gag..you used to do them so well..about 'Burning Sun'..is there a reason why you are keeping your mouth shut? Also, it was real hell on earth these days because of the fine dust environmental issue...and even about this you haven't even made a single comment on it, let alone a satire..do you always keep things to yourself when you feel like those people are on the same side as you?"
"Hyung, why aren't you satirizing these YG hot topics these days?"
"A professional satirist who is only silent when things are disadvantageous LOL"
However, some are also defending Yoo Byung Jae, commenting that this may cause secondary offense from accusations without grounds.
Look, he'll call a spade a spade in most situations, but what do these people want from him? We've all witnessed how dramatically stocks have dropped at the company, how major investors are pulling funds and support left and right, how other potential dealings have completely fallen through due to Seungri and the Burning Sun scandal. For one, it's been claimed that everyone under the company is on a temporary social media ban until further notice, although that's not been confirmed. But really, it's one thing to point out issues in the hopes for change when working for a company. It would be another thing entirely to walk up to a building on fire and deliberately pour more gasoline on it. This affects him too, both as an artist as well as financially. Everyone under that company is probably being very cautious and weighing all their options, and it would honestly be career suicide to be dissing your own company when more and more terrible things are transpiring by the day, sometimes even by the hour.
