[ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: SINGER-SONGWRITER SOBAE]

What a year it has been for future R&B singer-songwriter, Sobae, who celebrates the first anniversary of her debut today.

A quick review of her year:

OCTOBER 2017

Sobae releases her debut single "Switch Up", which is described as "alluring and effortlessly captivating... finding her place alongside the sensual nocturnal musings of future R&B innovators like Frank Ocean and The Weeknd... but armed with decidedly playful and witty demeanor." (KURRENT MUSIC)

JANUARY 2018

Sobae becomes a weekly guest on Arirang World Radio’s “Catch the Wave”, in which she introduces various K-Dramas to a global audience.

MARCH 2018

Sobae releases her second single “Homegirl”, featuring Exy of WJSN. It is an anthem dedicated to all the “homegirls” of the world.

“The dreamy atmosphere of the song, the jazz piano, Sobae’s soft vocals, and Exy’s charming rap result in a catchy tune.” (HIP HOP KR)

The music video also receives wide attention for including over 50 replicas of Sobae in a fantastical neon city.

APRIL 2018

Sobae joins rappers San E and MadClown for a 20 city U.S. Tour, during which she promotes “Homegirl” and makes a televised appearance on JBTV.

JULY 2018

Sobae releases her first Korean track, “Holiday”, featuring San E. It becomes her most popular song yet, is added by Spotify curators onto four playlists, and is called a “summer bop” by many.

OCTOBER 2018

Sobae releases the first episode of show “Sobae’s Balls”, in which she invites viewers to join her behind the scenes so they can witness the “struggling independent artist’s… creative journey of building my next track, because you’re going to be the inspiration for it.”’

Sobae shows a never-before-seen funny side of herself, while also showing off her eloquent speaking abilities.
